The History Of Biancas

Biancas was opened as a Bistro/Pizzeria in 1979 and is located in one of Gibraltar’s first major marina developments, Marina Bay. Both Biancas and Marina Bay were built by a local developer, Bill White, and it was Bill who named the restaurant, albeit with a slight twist, after his own namesake – hence, Biancas, which is derived from the word bianco, which means white in Italian.

As with most construction outside the City Walls, Biancas is located on reclaimed land, and it may well have been the case that, once upon a time, a Royal Navy Frigate would have been anchored where the restaurant is now.

Biancas was the first restaurant of its type in Gibraltar. In fact, restaurants in Gibraltar. In fact, restaurants in Gibraltar would never open on a Monday yet we were one of the first to break with convention and keep our doors open to the public each and every monday.

Biancas has the reputation of being Gibraltar’s most popular restaurant with a wide appeal to both local clientele and tourists. We pride ourselves on being open seven days a week with food available throughout the day.

Our breakfasts are served from 9 am every morning and our Sunday Carvery is renowned in Gibraltar – a seat for Sunday lunch must therefore be reserved to avoid disappointment.
